Who doesn’t love black? It’s chic and sexy; makes you look thin, and you can wear it anywhere. Yes!
But, Abundant Black Disorder (ABD) is a common wardrobe malady. (Oh, no!) The symptoms: A closet full of black clothing and accessories and the irresistible urge to “buy it in black”.
Unfortunately women who have ABD fail to realize that an abundance of black seriously cramps your style and can make you look old if you are not careful.
How? After 50 or so too much black is notorious for draining the color from paler and more fragile, aging skin.
Is there an ADB cure? Sure. Stop being so predictable. Promise yourself not to buy anymore black for a very long time. (Tip: The Pantone Color Institute has chosen a reddish-orange shade called Tangerine Tango as the 2012 color of the year. Get with the program people!)
Scared? Ok, then start slowly. Combine black outfits with a burst of color. A colorful blouse with a black skirt. A black dress with a colorful pattern. Or if you are really addicted, how about a bright hue for your bag, shoes, sunglasses or nails?
Note: As I write this post, I am in head to toe black attire. (natch)
